Many jobs require more than a basic “stick it on the wall” or “plug it in” type approach, either for aesthetic or equipment
performance based reasons.

We apply all of our years of expert knowledge to ensure you get the result you want from your investment in

the kit. If you have multiple pieces of equipment, require internet networking for the kit or have a particularly busy or minimal décor, the chances are there will be a lot to think about to get to your goal.

Details to consider for Audio Visual Installations

We’ve listed some of the major considerations that are common to most av projects so that you can get an idea of what you need to think about. Don’t worry if you don’t understand something or know what to do, that’s what we’re here for – to explain everything in plain English and guide you through the planning process.

LIST OF EQUIPMENT TO INSTALL

Please make sure you let us have a full equipment list of all the items you need us to take into account and install, as we need to make sure we cover everything to get the best out of your system. There are many areas we’ll look at including connecting things to the internet, the distances between different components, connections and parts options and the wiring required.

LOCATION OF EQUIPMENT

Putting the equipment exactly where you want it is important, but this is usually a fairly simple process for us whether we are mounting your equipment on a stand or the wall; we are often asked how long will the installation take and the actual siting of the equipment is usually the easiest and quickest bit.

Cupboards can often be trickier due to the amount of space required for the equipment and cabling, whereas freestanding equipment units with easy access at the rear will speed up the process. It’s important to bear in mind that if we’ve got to move your room around before we start our work; this will increase your cost for the job so it’s smart to get it done before we arrive if you can.

LOCATION & TIMING OF OTHER SERVICES

When we say services, we’re thinking about things like the electrical supply for equipment, aerial or satellite cable location, whether you have Sky/Virgin Media etc. already in and working, internet connection, all these are important items that need to be in position for where the equipment is going for it to work. Of course if they are not then we ‘ll happily help but this will affect the overall job cost and is something that people can miss when suggesting to us that’s it’s a basic installation.

CABLE MANAGEMENT

Stray cables look messy, even if they aren’t a trip hazard. We’ll plan a suitable way of quickly disguising and tidying your cables so your new equipment looks the way you thought it would when you bought it and the aesthetics of your room are maintained.

IS THE ROOM DECORATION COMPLETE?

This is critical to know before we quote as depending on where in the spectrum you are from building site to immaculately finished room, it will affect the order we do things in and the considerations we have to make when planning the job. Things may have to be done differently or in a different order depending on what stage you are at.
